Table 12. South Cascades 2012 Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project remote camera location descriptions.
Six sites were monitored in Northeast Washington where the majority of Washington's wolf packs,
confirmed and suspected, reside. Of our six sites all recorded level 3 species, while one recorded the
target species and five sites recorded level 2 species.
For species richness and diversity of documented species, our site in the Salmo-Priest Wilderness of
Washington's Selkirk Mountains was the leading site. Salmo-Priest had seven different species,
including wolf (level 1), cougar and moose (level 2), and black bear, bobcat, coyote, and deer (level 3).
This year's monitoring verifies presence of wolves in this particular area and its importance as habitat
for a wide range of species. The video of a member of the Salmo pack indicated a new data point for
mapping the the Salmo Pack's range. During our monitoring season there was not a collar placed on any
individuals within the Salmo Pack, so our documentation helped to provide visual and geographic
information to management agencies. It is particularly important to understand the range of the pack
