9. Donaldson Draw ô 8 ç DIFFICULTY 1 HABITAT: A half-mile long steep-sided canyon with a beaver pond. WILDLIFE: Golden eagle, red-winged blackbird, moose. VIEWING OPPORTUNITY: An easy drive on Bangs Mountain Road travels the base of the canyon, the product of ancient floods caused by melting Ice Age glaciers that once covered the region. ACCESS: About 4 miles west of Kettle Falls on US 395, cross the bridge over the Columbia River. Almost immediately (0.1 mile), turn left (west) on Hwy 20, toward the town of Republic.
