17 CWMP 2013-2014 Winter Field Season Report
All Sites
Table 8: Remote camera species detections over the winter season.
Over the course of our monitoring season seven species were detected by our remote
cameras, including one of our target species – wolverine – at the Chiwaukum site. This
site has year-to-year captured images of wolverine. Genetic analysis of hair samples
gathered from gun brushes this winter are still being analyzed but will hopefully shed
further light on the the individuals and population dynamics in the Central Cascades.
American martin was also detected at the Chiwaukum site. Prior to winter snowfall, the
Ice Lakes site received a single visit from a wolverine. However, the remoteness of the
site precluded winter access, so as of release of this report there is no data available.
Neither the Icicle nor Sparkplug Mountain sites received visits by their target species.
