Joining us this spring as our new
Development and Communications
Director, Jeff Baierlein brings over 26
years of environmental and wilderness-
based professional experience including
as executive director at Outward Bound
and the Boojum Institute.
"Conservation Northwest has an
outsized record of major accomplish-
ments," said Baierlein. "e organiza-
tion has protected hundreds of thou-
sands of acres and supported threatened
wildlife like lynx, grizzlies, and wolves.
Our members and staff have a major impact on keeping the
Northwest wild."
Jeff has already jumped into engaging with long-time sup-
porters and key foundations. "When I talk to donors, they
are impressed by both our vision and ability to execute," he
says. "ey know that wildlife and ancient forests need their
help, and that Conservation Northwest is effective. When it
comes to educating decision makers about the importance
of a healthy environment, safeguarding fish and wildlife, or
helping large natural areas face climate change, Conserva-
tion Northwest is a true leader. I'm delighted to be part of the
team."

Cover: Artistic rendition of the Price/Noble I-90 Wildlife Overcrossing,
now under construction just east of Keechelus Lake at the site of the
former Price Creek Rest Area. This 150-foot-wide wildlife "bridge"
will be fully vegetated with native plants and shrubs. Placement at
a key wildlife corridor and fencing along the roadway will encourage
animals big and small to use the new overcrossing, reconnecting
habitat in the North and South Cascades. Early in the morning on
June 9, 2015, the day of the groundbreaking, a cow elk was killed by a
vehicle while trying to cross the busy interstate right at this location.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2019.
